The intention of this thesis is to perform research to optimally design and test a 3-axial high bandwidth accelerometer to be used to monitor the bearings of the wheels of a train.
The current technology only allows to measure a single axis of acceleration in an analog way in a certain volume. It would be required to perform a 3-axis measurement in the same volume with additionally the possibility to integrate calibration data into the device as well.
The focus of the thesis should be related to select cutting edge digital high bandwidth MEMS accelerometers and integrate this mechanically in (printed) housings. Secondly, an electronic interface and related software should be designed to the Televic train monitoring system Cosamira.
A demonstration shoud be aimed at in which 3-axis of vibration are measured by the cosamira device and displayed.
