Four train coach generations communicate via state-of-the-art passenger information systems

Cross-generation modernisation

Together with Televic GSP, DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH is retrofitting the proven passenger information system to upgrade it to the latest technological state-of-the-art. At the Wittenberge workshop, the double-decker coaches of the DoSto94, DoSto97 and DoSto2003 series are being modernised and refurbished for operation on new DB lines or on those that are newly up for tender.

The coaches are now in service on the “Nord-Süd” railway network and the “Haardachse” line in North Rhine-Westphalia, for example.

Four train coach generations communicate via state-of-the-art passenger information systems.

An aspect is the modernisation of the passenger information systems. Coaches with an existing Televic GSP system are being retrofitted, and coaches that do not yet have a system will be equipped with one.

In addition to completing the systems with RIS-capable PIS on-board computers from the UKR series, updates with the IFZ intelligent vehicle operating software enable real time information, connections and up-to-date ticker messages, among other things. Another focus area: the partial modernisation of the public address and passenger intercom systems and the installation of new displays and infotainment systems (TFT displays from the INDIS series).

During 2014 and 2015, a total of far more than 100 vehicles will thus be upgraded to the latest technological state-of-the-art to ensure they are ready for the future – further demonstrating the successful cooperation between Televic GSP and the Wittenberge DB workshop, which started back in 2002.
