Stadler Flirt DART Silver Line

Dallas Area Rapid Transit equips new Silver Line with FLIRTs

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), a transit agency serving the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex of Texas, ordered eight diesel-electric low-floor multiple unit FLIRTs from Stadler in 2019, set to be delivered in 2022, for their new commuter Silver Line project.

All new trains will be fitted with Televic GSP systems. The vehicle’s design allows the operation of a mixed fleet including freight trains and in addition, they meet the new AVT requirements of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Buy America.

“The Silver Line will provide passenger rail connections and services to improve mobility, accessibility and system linkages between major areas in the DART service area”, explains former DART board chair Paul N. Wageman. The trains will operate the commuter route between Plano and the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Texas.

Modern design fitted with advanced technology

The Diesel Multiple Units (DMU) will be fitted with Televic GSP’s advanced audio communication systems, PIS management software, video surveillance, automated passenger counting, onboard networks, and passenger information systems, including TFT and LED displays.

Our advanced systems seemed to be the perfect fit for the modern design of the trains. On top of that, our LiveCoM Suite can smoothly integrate with DART’s existing backend systems.
