At our company, metadata from our conference system, such as voting results, is transmitted to a central unit through a network. Unauthorized access to this network, whether via wired or wireless connections, could potentially allow individuals to alter this sensitive metadata. This risk is particularly significant concerning voting results.

Our remote voting platform is also susceptible to such alterations. To address these security concerns, we are exploring decentralized processing methods. Implementing blockchain techniques could ensure the integrity of voting results by enabling verification processes that are transparent and secure.

An initial point of reference for this project is the study "Blockchain for Electronic Voting System—Review and Open Research Challenges," available at NCBI. The authors of this study suggest that while blockchain has potential, further improvements are necessary to fully leverage its capabilities in voting systems.

The internship will involve conducting a thorough literature review to identify potential enhancements and subsequently developing a solution to integrate these advancements into our existing systems.
