The Bluetooth Special Interest Group anounced in 2020 a new feature for the upcoming Bluetooth technology: audio broadcast for practicaly infinite receivers called Auracast.

This new feature brings multiple potential usecases with low cost, like support for hearing aids, forwarded audio to Bluetooth headphones or integration as a fallback wireless channel for speakers. Especially, for Televic GSP the broadcasting of announcements with Auracast could be interesting. Already today, a lot of people use e.g Bluetooth headphones. Listening to announcements with headphones/hearing aids overcomes intereference, like noise from train and other peoples chatting by getting the speech announcements directly into the ear. Also experimental features like prioritizing announcements over music inside headphones could be possible.

The student would have following goals:

* Exploring the different modes of Auracast

* Investigation of current implementations of Auracast (broadcasting, multi-language, audio prioritization,...)

* Design and implementation of an PoC usecase for rail
