Topic Description
AssessmentQ is a digital exam platform developed and maintained by Televic Education. To support content creators in developing diverse and engaging assessments, this internship explores the feasibility of using AI to generate item variants. Variants allow for broader question pools, reducing repetition and improving assessment quality while maintaining fairness and consistency.
This internship aims to develop a proof-of-concept (PoC) that leverages AI to generate item variants efficiently. The goal is to provide content creators with automated tools to expand question sets based on existing items while ensuring relevance and accuracy. The study will explore different types of variations, including:
- Mathematical problems with modified variables while maintaining the same difficulty level.
- Multiple-choice questions with reworded phrasing and alternative distractors.
- Fill-in-the-gap exercises with similar yet varied base texts.
- Scenario-based questions adjusted to maintain context while diversifying case details.
- Make question more difficult or easier
Research Questions:
- How can AI models generate relevant and high-quality item variants while maintaining assessment integrity?
- What techniques ensure that generated variants remain pedagogically sound and unbiased?
- How can AI-generated variants be integrated into the content creation workflow of assessmentQ?
- What quality assurance mechanisms are required to verify the accuracy and relevance of AI-generated content?
