Case study: Reinventing a 24-year old forum room
Bringing the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s meeting technology up to the latest standards.
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is a German foundation associated with but independent of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party. The aim of the foundation is to act as a think-thank and consulting agency, but also to provide political and civic education programs to the public. In support of this mission, the foundation offers more than 2,500 conferences and events each year worldwide as well as an ongoing scholarship and seminar program.
The foundation’s headquarters and main meeting venue have been established in Berlin in 1998. After 24 years of operation, the conferencing technology in the forum room was due for a well-deserved upgrade. The aim of the AV renovation: to live up to the most modern standards while ensuring system reliability. At the same time, all new equipment was to fit into the existing table cut-outs.
70 custom-made delegate units
In collaboration with AV integrator Pro Video, Televic equipped the foundations Berlin venue with a new digital audio conference system including 70 custom-made delegate microphone units to match the dimensions of the previous equipment.
Multilingual meeting management
As per the foundations requirements, the system was devised to provide optimal speech intelligibility through digital microphone technology, high-resolution cameras to facilitate video conferencing, and an electronic voting system. Televic’s CoCon meeting management software made it possible to run an integrated system control – including participant identification and speaker list management – from a remote control room. This room is located in a separate room, but with direct visual contact with the meeting participants.
The integration of Televic’s Lingua ID interpreter desks makes it possible for the foundation to host multilingual meetings and conferences, enabling each participant to engage in the conversation in their language of choice.
