Siemens - Brightline

The long-awaited launch of Brightline is a milestone for train travel in America.

The 28 inch wide TFT screens provide relevant information.

On January 13 train operator Brightline started passenger service from West Palm to Fort Lauderdale. The colourful fleet was built by Siemens with passenger comfort in mind. With its free wi-fi, leather seats, spacious aisles, charging points and bike racks, Brightline sets a new benchmark for train travel in the United States.

Privately financed railway project

The long-awaited launch of Brightline is a milestone for train travel in America. For the first time in decades, a private company invested in a passenger railroad project for the country. The main focus of Brightline is to get travelers faster to their destination, in a more comfortable way. A top speed of 125 mph makes it the second fastest passenger train in North America.

Clear information, great comfort

All Brightline coaches are equipped with adjustable seats, free wi-fi and space for bicycles and luggage. To increase passenger comfort even more, Televic GSP was chosen to supply the passenger information system for the new trains. The 28 inch wide TFT screens provide relevant infotainment, the audio system enables crystal-clear communication and the CCTV system increases safety. Televic GSP also delivered a content management system, an Ethernet Backbone and a system for data transfer.

Future openings in the pipeline

The story has just begun for Brightline. The railroad has recently expanded to Miami, and plans are well underway for an extension to Orlando. Wes Edens, Fortress Investment Group co-founder and co-chair, has plans to invest in similar projects: “Our goal is to look at other corridors with similar characteristics – too long to drive, too short to fly.”
