SFMTA is carrying out the first major upgrades to its fleet since the 1990s. The train company plans to have 68 new LRVs up and running by the end of 2018 and will replace all its current trains by the new vehicles by 2028. The newtrains are fitted with Televic GSP’ s information system, including screens, audio systems and content management software.

68 new trains by the end of 2018
The order is one of the biggest ever placed in the USA for light rail cars. Siemens was selected as train builder, one of Televic GSP's largest customers worldwide. The trains will be built at the Siemens factory in Sacramento, California.
