Valley Metro is expanding its services with eleven new light rail vehicles. The urban transit company operates in the State of Arizona, serving the cities Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa.
The new S70 light rail vehicles will help Valley Metro meet growing ridership needs and the next expansion of the 26-mile rail line.
"Investment in transit is a major contributor to powering this nation's ongoing economic growth, both locally and across the country", said Mark Mitchell, Valley Metro Rail Chair and Mayor of Tempe.
Real-time Passenger Information
Next to spacious interiors, energy-efficient LED lighting, and advanced cooling systems, the new cars will feature a real-time passenger information system from Televic GSP, including:
- LED destination signs,
- dynamic information displays
- content management software
- a CCTV system with the new powerful video recorder
- rear-view monitors for the cab
This total solution helps to keep passengers informed about connections, delays and new updates.
